Creating an event management tool for professional planners
I defined the alpha feature set for an event management tool that saves professional wedding planners hours every day – giving them more time to focus on their clients and critical planning tasks.
My Role
I led the discovery, definition and design for the alpha feature set in collaboration with Prelude’s founder and a contracted software developer.
The Problem
Prelude’s founder had determined that wedding planners spend more than 30% of their time on routine administrative tasks.
I needed to reduce that burden for planners to focus on what they do best; plan amazing events.
Research
I interviewed, surveyed and shadowed professional wedding planners to see what tasks were taking up the most of their time.
Biggest Planner Challenges
A few themes emerged around time intensive administrative aspects of the planning process and I narrowed it down into three main opportunities to explore.

Exploration
I created several prototypes to test with planners, starting with individual concepts and then combined the most minimal feature set to see what planners felt was missing.

100% retention with first users
+20 additional testers onboarded since beta launch
